The Tauranga Art Gallery, a cornerstone of the Bay of Plenty’s cultural landscape, has undergone a major transformation as part of Tauranga City’s Te Manawataki o Te Papa civic precinct project.

SEG Ltd is proud to deliver the Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic (MEH) services that support the gallery’s redevelopment into a modern, world-class arts facility.

The project include a new entrance facing Masonic Park, upgraded gallery spaces, seismic strengthening, and improvements to lighting and climate control systems. These upgrades will enable the gallery to host internationally recognised exhibitions while enhancing the visitor experience for the local community.

SEG’s scope of work focuses on integrating building services that balance performance, sustainability, and reliability. This include:

  • Mechanical systems that provide efficient climate control and air quality management, critical for art preservation.

  • Electrical systems designed with flexibility, ensuring gallery lighting and technology infrastructure can adapt to diverse exhibitions.

  • Hydraulic services that support upgraded amenities and back-of-house operations.

“Projects like the Tauranga Art Gallery are about more than just delivering building services—they’re about enabling cultural spaces to thrive,” said Richard Saunders.

We’re proud to contribute our expertise to a project that will enrich Tauranga’s arts and community life for years to come.”

With the redevelopment almost complete, Tauranga is set to welcome back a revitalised hub for creativity, learning, and community engagement soon!
