SEG Joins The NZGBC

As part of our ongoing passion for sustainability in the built environment, SEG has joined the ranks of the NZGBC.

SEG Director Richard Saunders had this to say: "As a sector and as individuals we need to do more to challenge and improve sustainability in everything we do. How we have previously thought about and executed projects at some point will no longer be good enough. We need to look forward, and constantly change and adjust."

NZGBC Membership offers a useful resource to significant training & event discounts, access case studies, insight on new tools, market updates, events on demand (such as our annual summit), monthly webinars, and courses. You also join the movement for better, healthier buildings in New Zealand. Finally, and importantly, members help steer what the sector needs and how we deliver our services.

The New Zealand Green Building Council started in 2006 thanks to 30 organisations from the property and construction sector. They now enjoy the support of around 550 members and collaborate with them to deliver healthier, more productive new and existing buildings. Our Corporate Membership is influential and diverse, from Air New Zealand to WSP, including Argosy Property, ANZ, Auckland Council, Bayleys, Beca, Christchurch City Council, Fletcher Building, Goodman Property, Kāinga Ora, New Zealand Steel, Warren and Mahoney, and many more.

NZGBC voluntary building standards offer holistic, sustainable solutions for just about any building, tenancy, or home. With members, we have compiled a roadmap for all Aotearoa's buildings to be zero-carbon by 2030. All buildings and homes: existing and new. This includes dramatic changes to the building code and how we manage all our existing buildings. This is why NZGBC has been pushing MBIE to reform the building code, and we are keeping our members up to date with Building for Climate Change.
